7.0/10

I stayed at the grand hotel for my partner's 40th birthday and found the location amazing, right on the river with easy access to Marlow and London. The room size was good, but the view of the car park was disappointing. The service was friendly and professional, though there were delays at times. The dining experience had some issues, but the dishes were delicious. Overall, a mix of great location and service with some room for improvement in certain areas.

Rooms
7.0
The room was a good size and well decorated, but the view of the car park was not worth the rate. Accessing the room involved climbing steep, narrow staircases.
Service
7.0
The service staff were knowledgeable, witty, and helpful overall, though there were occasional delays in being seen and served.
Location
8.0
The hotel is right on the banks of the river Thames, a fantastic location. Easy walk into lovely Marlow and close to London, but service levels seemed to drop at busy times.
Dining
6.0
The dining room overlooking the river was stunning, but there were long waits for a table and breakfast. Food quality was good despite some hiccups.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had a mix of facilities, with some standout features like the dining room view but also experienced some challenges especially during peak times.

8.4/10

The hotel offers comfortable rooms but comes at a higher price. The rooms, while reasonably clean and of a good size, show signs of wear and were left dusty after cleaning. However, the service is top-notch with cheerful, friendly, and professional staff. The location is amazing, right on the river edge and close to town. The dining experience provides a wide range of delicious options. The price may be a bit steep for what is offered, but the facilities are well-maintained.

6.4/10

My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms, although small and poorly soundproofed, had a classic English charm. The service, unfortunately, lacked warmth and customer focus, but it was efficient. The location offered beautiful views, but there were some issues like a strange smell in the room. The dining experience fell short of expectations for a hotel of this caliber.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms, although small, dimly lit, and hot like a sauna, exuded the charm expected from a good old English hotel.
Service
6.0
The staff seemed more focused on finishing early than on welcoming or addressing guest concerns, but they worked together efficiently.
Location
8.0
The location overlooking the Thames River was idyllic for exploring Marlow, despite a few drawbacks like the room smell and issues with the Jacuzzi bath.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience, albeit with beautiful views, was not up to par for a hotel in this price range.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities were basic and somewhat disappointing, lacking any standout amenities.

The hotel offers a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the weir, but the rooms are quite small considering the cost and the bathrooms are a little dated. The service is exceptional, especially with outstanding concierge David, but it may not be worth the high price. The location is fantastic for enjoying afternoon tea by the river but could benefit from a modern update. The dining experience offers buffet-style options with a convenient location, yet on a Travelzoo voucher. Overall, a mixed experience with some standout aspects.
